Calum Macpherson is the BlackRock Capital Markets Associate of BlackRock. He previously worked at International Financial Data Services (IFDS) as a Customer Service Executive. Calum Macpherson attended the Heriot-Watt University. In 1981 Calum began his research career as a Research Assistant at Imperial College in London. Macpherson joined St.
George’s University (SGU) in 1993 as Professor of Parasitology and Director of Research in the School of Medicine. WINDREF seeks to advance health and environmental development through multidisciplinary research and education programs. Macpherson’s research interests include working on socio-economics, human behavior and parasitic diseases, particularly zoonoses. Calum's research has focused on diagnosis, surveillance, and control aspects of parasitic diseases.
Macpherson has received recognition for his research contributions through the award of Pfizer Award and in 2007 a research excellence award commemorating SGU’s 30th Anniversary. He has worked and or lectured in over 50 countries, in Africa, Asia, the Caribbean, and South America. Calum has written or edited four books, with the 2nd edition of a book entitled, “Dogs, zoonoses and Public Health” edited with Francois Meslin and Alexander Wandeler published by CABI in Feb 2013, 15 book chapters and over 100 papers in peer-reviewed journals. Calum has been a member of a number of World Health Organization committees and working groups and has delivered numerous plenary papers and conference presentations at more than 100 conferences. Calum enjoys working with graduate students and over the course of his teaching career, Macpherson has supervised over 60 MSc, MtropMed, MD MSc, MPH, and PhD students in Kenya, Tanzania, India, the UK, Nevis, and Grenada.
