Bryan Hackleman is a dedicated Mechanical Engineer working at Advanced Energy in Fort Collins, Colorado. His expertise contributes significantly to the semiconductor industry, where the company designs and manufactures products that are vital to various fields, including semiconductor manufacturing, flat panel displays, data storage,

telecommunications networks, solar cells, medical devices, and architectural glass.

Bryan is distinguished by his strong analytical skills, which are critical to his role in researching, evaluating, solving problems, and troubleshooting. His technical abilities extend to project planning and management, documentation, and technical writing. He is well-versed in ASME Y14.5 GD&T and proficient in multiple CAD programs, including PTC Creo, SOLIDWORKS, ANSYS, and Fluent. He also has experience with data analysis tools such as Excel, Matlab, and Minitab and is knowledgeable in finite element analysis and computational fluid dynamics. His deep understanding of Design-For-Manufacture (DFM) and Design-For-Manufacturing-Assembly (DFMA) principles enhances his effectiveness in his work.

At Advanced Energy, Bryan's role as a Mechanical Engineer involves designing equipment used in the production of semiconductor devices. He uses SolidWorks to create derivative RF generators based on existing products, customizing them to meet the specific needs of clients. His work includes designing sheet-metal enclosures, stamped and extruded heatsinks, and cable assemblies. Additionally, he manages the packaging of electronic circuitry in protective enclosures and participates in the troubleshooting, testing, and debugging of prototype power supply units.

Bryan is also responsible for maintaining the company's existing RF generator product lines. His duties include qualifying new mechanical and electrical components, especially when current components become obsolete or are challenging to source. He conducts a thermal analysis of these components to ensure the products maintain their high reliability standards.

In addition to his engineering duties, Bryan plays a crucial role in supporting production by addressing mechanical component issues. He works on DFM-related concerns and updates assembly operations to improve efficiency. He also collaborates with suppliers to address the problems with out-of-tolerance parts, providing recommendations for rework or adjustments to meet the required specifications.

Before becoming a Mechanical Engineer, Bryan gained experience as an Assembler at Advanced Energy. In this role, he worked independently from electrical schematics, diagrams, and verbal and written instructions to assemble and test electrical and mechanical components. He also maintained a clean and organized lab environment.

Bryan's academic background includes earning both his Bachelor of Science and Master of Science degrees in Mechanical Engineering from Colorado State University (CSU). His thesis focused on the regeneration of oxidation catalysts through chemical washing. He also co-authored a paper on this topic, which was presented at the 2018 Gas Machinery Conference in Kansas City, Missouri.

During his time at CSU, Bryan worked as a Research Assistant at the CSU Hydraulics Laboratory, where he maintained equipment, prepared soil erosion experiments, and fabricated scale models for performance testing. He also gained valuable experience as a Research Engineer for Pipeline Research Council International, where he researched the degradation of oxidation catalysts and the effectiveness of chemical washing treatments.

Outside of his professional work, Bryan Hackleman has a passion for art. He enjoys painting and drawing, with a particular focus on oil paintings and landscapes. He aspires to turn this passion into a side career by selling his artwork in the future. In addition to his artistic pursuits, he enjoys outdoor activities such as fly fishing and hiking, reflecting his strong connection to his home state of Colorado. He is an avid reader who enjoys learning and exploring new ideas, both in his professional and personal life.
