Bruce Fram took a programming course during his freshman year in high school. A few months later, he was making money doing what he’d learned. (For those interested, his first computer was a Compucolor II.) According to him, ‘It’s always been about problem solving, and I’ve always found myself on the leading edge. Early on, I was working on one of
the largest databases ever created at the time on a Vax machine. This was for American Management Systems. I’ve been CEO of numerous companies ranging from network diagnostics to app management. It’s all been very practical stuff – using tech to solve today’s problems.’
Bruce was the founder and CEO of Luminate Software. That company was sold to EMC in 2001. In 2004, he led the $275M buyout of Network General from McAfee and served as its CEO. ‘The reason I came to Aerospike is because they recognized the database solutions available today weren’t going to do the job. It was a problem that needed to be solved. But this space is flooded with competitors, so you better have something unique. It can’t be 10% or 20% better. It has to be 10X better. Otherwise, there’s no reason to exist. What we have at Aerospike is 10X better.’
