Dr. Monks is a Board Certified OB/GYN. He joined Ob Hospitalist Group in August 2008 as a full-time OB/GYN hospitalist at St. David’s North Austin Medical Center. He maintains his hospitalist role at NAMC, while also serving as Regional Medical Director. Dr. Monks has extensive clinical and QA/Peer Review experience.
Since 1992,
Dr. Monks has worked as a consultant/chart reviewer for Texas Medical Liability Trust (TMLT), the largest malpractice insurance carrier in Texas, and was recently named the chairman of NAMC’s hospital-wide QA/Peer Review Committee.
After finishing his residency in 1991, Dr. Monks worked in Austin as an academic physician for over three years. He then began work in a large group private practice, before branching off into a successful solo practice in 1999.
He graduated cum laude from the Loyola University’s Honors program with a BS in biology. Dr. Monks then attended the University of Texas Medical School in Houston, TX, where he received his medical degree. His residency was completed at Hermann Hospital in Houston, TX.
