Mr. Christopher is a New Zealand citizen and Florida resident who started his career working as a manager at IBM in Auckland, New Zealand.
He left IBM in the early 1960’s and went to Hong Kong and founded his own electronics company, called Astec. In a few years, the business grew successfully with factories in Hong Kong, Malaysia, China and new
offices in the west coast of the U.S.A.. The company continued to expand over the next 25 years until the early 1980’s, when Astec took over a British public company called BSR plc. It then changed its name to Astec (BSR) plc.
Brian Christopher continued as CEO and later, Chairman, and grew the company to a point where it became one of the largest power supply manufacturer in the world with 25,000 employees and globally scaled operations. During this time frame, Brian Christopher was also a director of Intertan Inc for 10 years. This company’s main trade product name is Radio Shack. He was a very active member of the World Economic Forum and travelled to many of its annual meetings.
Just prior to Mr. Christopher’s semi-retirement in the mid 1990’s, Astec (BSR) plc was acquired by Emerson Electric (EMR). Brian Christopher then moved to Florida, USA with his family and diversified into a number of industries, heavily focused on real estate and financial investments. He continues to remain active in developing potential businesses in the Far East and in Florida.
