Brett has served as Vice Chairman of The Fresh Market, Inc’s (NASDAQ:TFM) Board of Directors since March 2009 and has been a director since December 1985. The Fresh Markets, Inc. is a North Carolina based specialty retailer. As of April 30, 2010, the Company operated 155 stores in 19 states, and has revenues of over USD 1 Billion and over 8,000
employees. The Company focuses on perishable product categories, which include meat, seafood, produce, deli, bakery, floral, sushi and prepared foods. Its non-perishable product categories consist of traditional grocery and dairy products, as well as specialty foods, including bulk, coffee and candy, and beer and wine. Brett served as the President and Chief Executive Officer for the Fresh Market from 1998 to 2009, successfully growing its revenues from USD 100 million to USD 1 billion.
Prior to joining The Fresh Market, Brett was a consultant with Mercer Management Consulting (now Oliver Wyman Group). Brett has an MBA from the Wharton School of Business, and a JD from the University of North Carolina School of Law.
