Prior to joining Gilead, Bill was Department Head of Drug Delivery and Formulation at California Biotechnology, Inc. from 1986 to 1991. From 1985 to 1986, Bill was a research scientist at Syntex Corporation.
He received his Ph.D. in Physical Organic Chemistry from the University of California at San Diego and did postdoctoral work at the Ecole Polytech Federal Lausanne and the University of California at Santa Barbara.
