Dr. Freeman is the Kenneth A. Kobe and Paul D. & Betty Robertson Meek and American Petrofina Professor of Chemical Engineering at The University of Texas at Austin. His research is in the area of small molecule transport through polymers. Professor Freeman has published more than 250 papers and four edited books in this area, and he currently
directs a research group of 21 Ph.D. students and one postdoctoral fellow working on the use of polymers for gas, liquid, vapor membrane separation applications.
Professor Freeman�s research has been described in several high impact publications, including four articles in Science. He has led the Polymer Materials Science and Engineering (PMSE) Division of the American Chemical Society (ACS), serving as its chair, and he has served as president of the North American Membrane Society and organizer of the 2004 Annual Meeting of the North American Membrane Society and the 2008 International Congress on Membranes, which is the largest meeting of its kind in the world. He has also served as co-chair and then chair of the Membranes-Material and Processes Gordon Research Conference.
