Benjamin Lu is a managing partner at GRIL Ventures, a private investment vehicle with over 45 investments across three venture portfolios. GRIL focuses on backing high growth, high impact technology companies in areas such as fintech, education, health and mental wellness, food and agriculture, consumer tech, and more. GRIL is on a mission to
invest in disruptive technologies and great entrepreneurs who are advancing dignity around the world.
Prior to joining GRIL, Mr. Lu served as CFO to Teslights Corporation a Smart Lighting LED solution company. Mr. Lu joined Teslights in December 2016 and was responsible for all forecasting, budgeting, expense controls, and fund raising. Prior to joining Teslights, Mr. Lu was the VP of Finance at AODI a value-added lighting distributor based in Fremont, CA. Between 2012-2014, Mr. Lu was the associate director for GDS Infrastructure (Nasdaq: GDS) a leading data center company based out of China with Softbank and the World Bank as its investors. Before then, Mr. Lu was a consultant for MechanicNet Group (acquired by Epicor) a SaaS based marketing and retention software provider for SMB’s. While at MNG he led the development and marketing strategy for a new product called PROminder. Mr. Lu also conducted market research which includes market sizing as well as competitive analysis of the SaaS retention software industry.
Mr. Lu holds a BA in Economics and International Relations from the University of California, Davis.
