Hammond holds degrees in geology and business, spending his career in a variety of roles across the mining supply chain and development cycle. He has held operational and project development roles throughout his career mostly outside of geoscience across mining, processing, ports and logistics. He played a key role in marketing and negotiation of
previous major international joint ventures completed by Centrex, including setting up and running a Chinese/Australian iron ore joint venture company. Originally joining Centrex in 2007 he was appointed CEO in 2013.
