Ben Courson, a native of Southern Oregon, relocated to Southern California during his high school years. A dynamic athlete, he played Varsity Basketball and Football. In high school, Ben’s leadership qualities shone as he initiated a Bible Study at his residence. Starting with just a handful of friends, it remarkably grew to encompass 200 kids.
Though he secured the position of the School President, Ben made a heartwarming decision to graduate early and head to an orphanage in Mexico. There, he attended a "school of ministry" under his father's tutelage, deepening his knowledge of the Bible and caring for orphans.
Education played a pivotal role in shaping Ben’s journey. He attended elementary and junior high in Oregon, and following a move in his freshman year, he graduated from Calvary Chapel High School in Orange County in 2005. He further honed his spiritual journey at the School of Ministry in Mexico.
Post his education, Ben, at just 18, joined the Applegate Christian Fellowship, a church founded by Jon Courson in 1977. For 14 memorable years, he worked alongside his father and brother, Peter-John. The trio cherished their time at the Fellowship. Additionally, Ben collaborated closely with his sister, Christy, and brother-in-law, Seth, who excelled in creating soul-stirring music using the Book of Psalms as lyrics for the church.
Professionally, Ben is the founder and brain behind "Hope Generation" and is a best-selling author of “Optimisfits” and “Flirting with Darkness.” Ben now resides in Southern California and is an ardent advocate for mental health, he strives daily to spread hope to a generation grappling with depression, while simultaneously developing his unique philosophy of hope.
In the philanthropic arena, Ben is a staunch supporter of animal welfare. He has generously contributed to organizations such as C.A.R.E.4Paws, Sky Sanctuary, Cat Therapy, Gentle Barn, Borneo Orangutan Survival USA, among others.
