Bashar Hanna is an accomplished higher education leader with over 30 years of experience. Since 2017, he has served as president of Bloomsburg University, where he has achieved a 5% increase in student retention and established the President’s Commission on Diversity, Equity and Inclusion. Prior to this, he served in leadership roles at Ithaca
College, Kutztown University of Pennsylvania, DeVry University, Temple University and Delaware Valley University. He has also taught biology and mathematics courses throughout his career.
Dr. Hanna has earned many awards throughout his career, including the Delaware Valley University Student Government Board Award for Extraordinary Contributions and Unending Service for the Betterment of the Student Body and the Merit in Teaching Award three consecutive years at Temple University. He has also been active in the community, serving on the board of directors for the Columbia – Montour County United Way and chairing the Boy Scouts of America’s Bi-annual Jamboree from 2006 to 2009. Currently, he is interim president at Lock Haven University and was appointed interim president of Mansfield University of Pennsylvania in July 2021.
Bashar Hanna was recently appointed to serve on the Board of Directors for DRIVE.
