Ariel Friedler is an active investor and successful entrepreneur. Ariel has a passion for inventing and applying innovative technologies in areas that engage and connect users, enhance processes and maximize productivity. Ariel actively invests and advises technology, consumer product and food related start-ups and later stage companies.
His
investments include a plethora of household names and up-and-coming superstars including: Meituan (IPO), Fernish, Bellroy, Dos Toros (acquired), Atom Tickets, HAAS Alert, Epic Games, Manscaped, ByteDance, Lyft (IPO), Ilia, Biena, Athletic Brewing Company, Agrovision, i80, and more. He also is active in real estate ventures.
A native of Miami, Fla., Ariel has always been extremely enterprising. While attending Northwestern University on a scholarship, Ariel started his first business, Symplicity Corporation, from his dorm room in 1996. Symplicity published books to address the information gap between college recruiters and graduating students.
Seeing the potential of the web, Ariel took this publication and created a software product that is now one of the largest college recruitment platforms in the world. Symplicity was able to expand its presence at college campuses by deploying dozens of tools that automated and enhanced the way university departments communicated with students and other constituencies. Under Ariel’s stewardship, Symplicity’s solutions have helped more than 41 million students, staff, employers, and government constituents worldwide.
In the summer of 2016, Ariel sold Symplicity to H.I.G. Capital, a leading global private equity investment firm with more than $20 billion of equity capital under management.
In addition to graduating from Northwestern, where he served as the President of the Student Government, Ariel Friedler also holds a law degree from Georgetown Law and is a member of the Florida Bar. He lives in Miami with his wife and daughter.
