Anu Vaidyanathan is an Indian triathlete, who became the first and only Asian woman to complete the Ultraman Canada event, placing 18th, in 2009. In three years, she competed all over the globe in Ironman distance events and long-course triathlons culminating in Ultraman Canada in 2009, followed by a finish at Ironman Canada three weeks after
Ultraman. She is the first Indian to train for long-course triathlons in India and qualified for the Half Ironman 70.3 Clearwater World Championship in 2008
Besides being an athlete, Anu Vaidyanathan runs a company, PatNMarks, specialized in Intellectual Property Consulting. Her previous work includes contributions in Computer Architecture and Systems Research, contributing to Open Source projects, including User-Mode Linux and the K42 64-bit Operating System from IBM Research, building a hypervisor at IBM Austin, and presenting a demo at ACM-SIGGRAPH.
Anu Vaidyanathan was born in New Delhi and raised in Bangalore. She has a PhD in a record-setting time of 26 months from University of Canterbury at Christchurch, in Electrical Engineering and a Bachelor’s and Master’s degrees in Computer Engineering. She has served as a member of faculty at Indian Institute of Technology Ropar in the Department of Computer Science and Engineering, and at the Indian Institute of Management Ahmedabad.
