Anton J. Gunn is a corporate director, chief executive officer, and strategic advisor with nearly 30 years of experience advising organizations through growth, leadership transition, and complex operating environments. He brings a governance-first perspective with deep expertise in CEO succession, executive performance, and human capital strategy.
He has experience supporting private equity-backed and growth-oriented companies in accelerating value creation and strengthening leadership effectiveness.
Anton currently serves as Chairman of the Columbia Metropolitan Airport Commission, where he provides board-level oversight of strategy, executive leadership, risk, and enterprise performance. He has led governance through CEO transition, strengthening fiduciary oversight, reinforcing internal controls, and aligning leadership with long-term strategic priorities. His experience includes navigating complex regulatory and stakeholder environments—capabilities directly relevant to public company board service.
Across his board portfolio, including the Columbia Airport, Community Catalyst, Inc., and the South Carolina Chamber of Commerce, Anton has chaired and served on CEO search committees, advising on executive selection, succession planning, and leadership evaluation. He is experienced in board governance practices aligned with nominating and governance and compensation committee responsibilities, particularly in CEO performance oversight and leadership development.
As Founder and CEO of 937 Strategy Group, Anton serves as a trusted advisor to senior executives and boards, working with more than 240 organizations, including Fortune 500 companies, to improve leadership effectiveness, organizational alignment, and operating performance. His advisory work has contributed to measurable gains in customer growth, executive team performance, and organizational execution—supporting enterprise value creation in competitive and regulated markets.
Earlier in his career, Anton served as a senior advisor to President Barack Obama and the U.S. Secretary of Health and Human Services, where he led national stakeholder engagement strategy during the implementation of the Affordable Care Act. His work contributed to more than seven million new customers in the national health insurance marketplace, demonstrating his ability to operate effectively in high-stakes, highly regulated environments with significant public accountability.
Anton brings more than 25 years of board experience across corporate, nonprofit, and public-sector organizations. His board contributions include CEO succession planning, executive performance oversight, and strengthening governance practices during periods of transition, growth, and increased stakeholder scrutiny.
He holds the NACD Directorship Certification™ and has completed director education through the Herndon Directors Institute and the Gupta Governance Institute at Drexel University. He is a Certified Speaking Professional (CSP), a Harvard University Fellow, and a member of the Aspen Global Leadership Network.
