Anthony G Gerrard FRSA is the founder of lrng.io. Since 2012, he has been indirectly involved with public education systems around the world through various initiatives he founded/co-founded, with emphasis on tackling rising youth unemployment and inequality. Two prominent projects were: Bad Idea, an initiative that aimed to make

entrepreneurship more accessible and inclusive for all young people; and, Badge Maker, a research project funded by the Technology Strategy Board and sponsored by the Mozilla Foundation, to find new methods of digitally assessing and certifying skills in learners using Open Badges. From 2013-15, he was involved in the European Union’s transnational URBACT programme: My Generation at Work; which was concerned with the serious gaps between education and the world of work.

He has spoken at social innovation events for the British Council and Social Innovation Exchange; and during 2014-16, Anthony was part of an Expert Advisory Group to the Scottish Government which assisted in supporting the development and implementation of entrepreneurship within the national curriculum; and in 2017, he supported the World Bank in deploying a $7 billion national entrepreneurial programme for the Kuwaiti Government.

He is qualified by the Institute of Leadership and Management (ILM), and lectures on Global Social Entrepreneurship at Glasgow Caledonian University. In 2015, he was highly commended for Social Entrepreneur of the Year, recognised for Outstanding Contribution by a Young Business Leader, and his previous company was nominated for 8 awards, including Social Enterprise of the Year. He is a Fellow of the Royal Society for the encouragement of Arts, Manufactures and Commerce (The RSA), and his varied background includes a career in Marketing and Promotions before going on to study Accountancy and Law at University.
