Andy serves as both founding principal and chief investment officer for Banyan Investment Group. He is involved in many aspects of management and investment, primarily handling hotel assets, including originations, dispositions, negotiations, capital, and deal structuring. As the son of a hotelier, Andy was raised in the hotel industry and brings
an intimate knowledge of hotel management and development to Banyan.
Andy has led over $200M in acquisitions and continues to oversee business plans set forth during the underwriting process. He drives value to stakeholders each and every day through asset management and capital expenditure monitoring. Andy is recognized internally as the ‘forecasting expert’, having custom developed a system for determining whether an investment opportunity is worth pursuing, which they call the Deal Filtering Criteria. This system helps increase internal bandwidth and provides the team with a clear set of guidelines for evaluating the strength and quality of a deal. Andy gives back to his community in many ways, one of which revolves around education. Andy developed the scholarship program at Banyan, which has been launched with much excitement.
Andy’s professional and academic background developed his keen interest in select-service hotel investments and finance. He graduated from the University of Kentucky and went on to gain corporate experience in sales and origination at Johnson & Johnson. While there, he was awarded a company scholarship to pursue a Master of Business Administration at Oglethorpe University. He also has a Master of Science in Real Estate from Georgia State University and a certificate in Hotel Real Estate Investment and Asset Management from Cornell University.
