He started in the technology field in the mid-1990s as a Technical Writer, initially for insurance companies, and later for financial institutions. After tumbling through various roles and titles, such as Webmaster, Knowledge Manager, Process Manager, Intranet Developer and a few others He’ve forgotten, He declared himself a Business Analyst. It
was in this role that He began to consider technology as more as a business-focused service, rather than a remote cost center. After leaving JPMorgan Chase & Co., He went solo, started an S Corp, and partnered on projects with a number of companies, from boutique investment shops to global financial institutions. He was introduced to agile while working on a multi-bank project at Barclays in 2008-9, and later was part of a Scrum team that ran so efficiently, They were able to do full-scale releases every hour. The product is now known as clearXchange, a U.S.-based digital payments network.
After leaving Wells Fargo Labs, He consulted with First Republic Bank, at that time a vendor-reliant company with a rudimentary development environment. He had the opportunity to work on a team built organically to support the first digital mobile and web products that enjoyed on-premises support and operations. He was then given the opportunity to move into the Project Management Office where He managed a number of pioneering agile efforts for the bank, including two very successful web products targeting new clients. At present, He have the pleasure of helping them embrace and adopt agile throughout the enterprise, and lead continuous improvement efforts that result in faster TTM, scaled efficiencies, and most importantly, happier clients. He is pleased to share his story with the IoT audience and tell a tale of how being open to trying new things (or, constantly distracted by bright, shiny objects) often leads you to exactly where you need - and want - to be!
Aside from work, He co-sponsor a monthly event called Gateway to Agile with a consultant partner, Gervais Johnson (who actually does all the work), and they stage these events throughout the Bay Area in order to bring other agilists together in a fun and engaging forum with rotating topics and interests.
