Andreas Ittner is Professor of Computer Science (distributed systems) at the University of Applied Sciences, Mittweida, Germany. He is also the head of the Blockchain Competence Center Mittweida (BCCM) – an institute of the university, which is has partnered with numerous institutions and corporations of the finance and real economy as well as
politics and the political system in Germany.
Professor Ittner studied computer science in the 1990s with specialization in Big Data and Artificial Intelligence at the universities in Leipzig and Chemnitz. After finishing his PhD in Machine Learning in 1998, he co-founded prudsys AG, a data-mining company, which is a pioneer and today’s European market leader in the field of real-time personalization and data mining.
In 2007, Andreas moved back from the business into the academic field and was appointed Professor of Computer Science (Distributed Information Systems) to Mittweida University of Applied Sciences. In 2013 he got involved with Bitcoin and the emerging blockchain technology. And since 2015/16, he gives lectures and leads R&D projects in the blockchain space. In 2017 he initiated the foundation of the Blockchain Competence Center Mittweida (BCCM). He is the author and co-author of numerous publications and is often invited to lecture and give speak at international scientific conferences and business meetings.
