Born in Medellin, Colombia in 1979, Alejandro has been a rebel and a nonconformist all his life.
After high school he joined the army during the toughest years of the Colombian conflict. In college he studied two degrees at once (Graphic Design and Business administration) while working at the Universitys' Audiovisual Center. He was
pursuing his master’s degree on Project Management when he got pulled into the film world.
Arango's first production was "Al Final del Espectro", sold to Universal Pictures to remake in Hollywood with Blossom, casting Nicole Kidman. Being so far the first and only Colombian to accomplish this, he was called to manage the film division of one of the biggest media networks in the country, RCN, where he was responsible for more than 18 productions.
In 2009 he funded Contento Films, to develop, finance, produce and distribute Colombian co-productions with other countries, specially the United States. While doing this he also created Cytogel a Biotech company focused on cellular regeneration that was successfully sold a year later to a bigger pharmaceutical company.
After 8 years of helping the city of Medellin, Colombia to become a major film production hub in Latin America, Contento Films went bankrupt. The city however increased its audiovisual and film activity over 600%.
Alejo gathered all of his experience and learned lessons on the film industry to create his latest endeavor: Mowies. A digital platform that empowers creators with the opportunities they rightfully deserve.
