Albert Mwangi is responsible for providing the strategic direction, leadership, and oversight for CI’s entire institutional engagement in Africa.
Albert Mwangi is Senior Vice President for the Africa and Madagascar Field Division. He is responsible for providing the strategic direction, leadership, and oversight for CI’s entire institutional
engagement in Africa. Albert came to CI from the African Development Bank in Tunisia, where he was the Task Manager for forestry and climate change adaptation and mitigation projects in Western and Eastern Africa.
Previously, he was Program Manager at the United Nations Development Programme (UNDP) Drylands Development Centre in Nairobi, and the National Programme Manager in charge of the Environment and Natural Resources Programme. He was leading preparations and appraisals of new projects and was advising on management on global forestry and climate change issues.
In addition, he assisted Bank member countries in the implementation of strategic environment and natural resource management initiatives and coordinated loan activities. Albert was also a member of an inter-departmental team that was developing the Bank’s Green Growth Strategy.
A former lecturer at Kenyatta University, he holds a Ph.D. in resource economics from Michigan State University, where he was a Fulbright Scholar. He is fluent in English and Kiswahili, and has a basic knowledge of French.Albert is based in Nairobi, Kenya.
