Alan Emamdee is 44 years old. He completed college in Brooklyn, NY with BS in Biology/pre-med, worked as a science teacher for a year. Alan qualified as a medical doctor in 2010 from New York College of Osteopathic Medicine and completed residency in general psychiatry at Einstein Healthcare Network in Philadelphia,PA. His residency training
had a strong focus on the psychoanalytic/psychodynamic understanding of the psychiatric patient, alongside the biological model. Post residency, Alan worked for a regional hospital in a markedly under served and isolated area of New Mexico, with high volumes and wide variety of psychological and psychiatric pathologies. His services covered inpatient, outpatient and consults, mostly dealing with the Native American population, specifically the Navajo, the Jicarilla Apache and Zuni Nations. Due to extremely limited resources in this community, Alan continuously worked closely with the case management team and the District Attorney for disposition challenges. He used his psycho dynamic orientation to understand and connect with the individual, Alan used CBT and pharmacology for treatment while focusing on the whole psychophysiology model, respecting their cultural beliefs, and bridging the gap between the Western medicine and traditional medicine. He is also passionate about educating and empowering the individuals with simple tools that they can use in their life, such as, proper diet and exercise, resources, and education. His family has always been at the center of his equilibrium. They continue to re-inspire him through their love and magic. Alan has lived with his wife and three kids in New York Harbor for the past several years after moving back here from New Mexico. He enjoys RV-ing, camping, rafting, mountain biking and playing Hang drum. There is always too little time to do so much...especially when it comes to giving back to humanity.
