Alan Dubelman is one of those rare professionals that have proven his excellence in two seemingly disparate fields. A licensed medical professional who ran his own private practice and headed a Type 1 trauma center, Alan is also a financial specialist who has authored a paper as well as tutored students on the subject. It is rare to see a
professional who has excelled so much in a single field, which makes Alan’s accomplishments in these two diverse areas even more impressive.
Alan Dubelman earned his degree in Medicine from the University of California-School of Medicine in Los Angeles in 1974. With subsequent residencies at the University of California in San Francisco, Denver General Hospital and Duke University, it seemed that he was poised for a lifelong career in medicine. He would later specialize in emergency medicine and family practice, which were his primary areas of focus as lead attending physician at a trauma center, and as head of his own successful private practice.
Throughout Alan Dubelman's professional career, Alan has drawn on a wide and diverse skill set that incorporated his interest in zoology, as well as business and medicine. He enrolled at the MBA program at the University of Denver, later obtaining his Master’s Degree in Finance. He would approach this second career with the same dedication and commitment to excellence that he has exemplified in his medical career, later becoming a recognized authority in financial consultancy services.
Although Alan has an extensive background in field work in both finance and medicine, he has never strayed very far away from the academe. A gifted speaker and talented instructor with a seemingly natural ability to communicate well with others, Alan proved himself to be perfectly suited to play the role of teacher and tutor. With his Master’s degree in finance providing sufficient background for instruction in the various facets of the subject, Alan has served as tutor for dozens of students preparing for their GMAT, MCAT, LSAT, GRE, SAT and ACT.
Even while working toward his MBA, the seeds of Alan Dubelman's future career path as teacher/instructor were being sown. He first started working as a teaching assistant at the University of Denver, eventually assuming a fulltime teaching position at the Department of Finance. Despite his extremely busy schedule, he even found time to teach high-level classes on modern resuscitation techniques to ancillary medical service providers and doctors, and even to manage college admission courses for high school students. As if all that wasn’t enough, Dr. Dubelman even maintained a roster of several home-schooled students whom he tutored in subjects such as chemistry, physics, and math.
Among Dr. Alan Dubelman’s most significant contributions to the world of medicine were the papers on fingertip injuries that he co-authored. Espousing a neurological approach to the diagnosis and treatment of cases of fingertip injuries, Alan’s work was considered groundbreaking to say the least, and many of the methods and theories that he proposed continue to be employed in the treatment of such injuries around the world today.
