A 40-year veteran of the electrical industry, Alan Courtemanche serves as the senior quality assurance inspector of Standard Solar in Rockville, Maryland. Focused on maintaining quality and safety standards in renewable energy facilities, Alan Courtemanche oversees some 100 commercial and utility-scaled projects. He is certified as an installation
professional and PV system inspector by the North American Board of Certified Energy Practitioners.
Mr. Courtemanche began his career as an apprentice in New Orleans. Over the years, he gained experience in oilfield electrical operations, control panel installation, and contract work in schools and high rise buildings. Joining the International Brotherhood of Electrical Workers in 1999, Mr. Courtemanche became a journeyman in Local 26 (Washington, DC). He became especially proficient at installing large electrical conduits, motor controls, layout, and troubleshooting, and served as a foreman at Dynalectric, the nation’s biggest contractor.
After taking a job at Raging Wire in Ashburn, Virginia, as an electrician for data centers, Mr. Courtemanche joined a 50-person inspection team in Afghanistan. He worked with American troops and those from other nations at several forward bases, performing NEC compliance inspections, and writing reports.
Upon returning to the United States, Mr. Courtemanche took a job at Moss Construction Company in Fairfax, Virginia. He put his decades of experience to good use for the residential remodeling company, doing framing, wiring, and layout.
Outside of work, Mr. Courtemanche is a dedicated taekwondo practitioner. He is a seventh-degree black belt and has won numerous regional and national titles. He also enjoys boating, cooking, and hiking.
