Adrian Monza is the Chief of the Cyber Defense Branch, within the Information Security Division of the USCIS Office of Information Technology. His team is responsible for security engineering, deploying and maintaining USCIS’ security tools, penetration testing, vulnerability management, and USCIS’s secure coding practice. The Cyber Defense Branch
has been heavily involved in USCIS’ initiative to deploy microservices using container technologies at all levels, from code to platform. The branch has implemented hardening guidelines for Docker, deployed purpose-built tools to scan containers for vulnerabilities and analyze security at runtime, and worked as part of a DevSecOps team to deploy and secure a container orchestration platform for running containers at scale.
Mr. Monza and members of the branch have presented their work at multiple conferences, including Gartner’s Risk and Security Summit, DockerCon Federal, and DevNation Federal, and frequently provide advice to other Government agencies on best practices for running containers in production.
