Dr. Berez was a co-founder and CEO of Chestnut Medical Technologies, Inc. where he led the development of innovative devices for interventional neuroradiology, including the Pipeline Embolization Device© (PED). Chestnut Medical was acquired by ev3 in June 2009.
Before co-founding Chestnut, Dr. Berez was involved with a number of other med tech
companies including; VP of Clinical Affairs at Smart Therapeutics and Clinical Director at Endovasix. Dr. Berez received his MD degree from Georgetown University School of Medicine, his postgraduate training at UCSF/Mt. Zion in Internal Medicine, and Stanford University in Radiology and Neuroradiology.
He currently resides in the San Francisco Bay area where he advises medical device companies.
