Zonova has developed an antimicrobial additive technology that integrates directly into the polymers used in medical device manufacture, designed to help prevent healthcare-associated infections, a problem affecting roughly 1 in 10 hospital patients worldwide (WHO, 2011). Our patented Z-ROS® chemistry is a non-leaching antimicrobial additive based
on reactive-oxygen-species generation at the polymer surface. It does not use actives, antibiotics or biocides.
Z-ROS® is in development for high infection-risk device categories including vascular access devices, orthopaedic implants, urology (connectors, valves, catheters), endotracheal tubes, and pelvic health devices. The intended commercial model is licensing to medical device manufacturers, with masterbatch supply through a contracted compounder.
