ZKN is the trade association of clinics in the Netherlands. The organization represents more than 130 members at about 420 locations, which is about 60% of the total number of clinics in the Netherlands. Their members have all obtained the ZKN quality mark before becoming a member. Annually, they are inspected for quality and safety by an
independent auditor. Representatives of the clinic's interests are one of their most important responsibilities in dealing with inspectorates, ministries, insurers and other stakeholders. Their own labor contract and the independent ZKN dispute committee are also mandatory for its members. There are clinics in each of their locations that provide all (planning-based) medical specialist services. Clinics often specialize in one or more specialties, such as ophthalmology, dermatology, orthopedics, surgery, plastic surgery, or cardiology.
