Zirchron provides specialized geoscience laboratory services focused on high-purity, high-yield mineral separations from whole rock and sediment samples. The company supports geochronologic, thermochronologic, and other isotopic tracer investigations for academic, commercial, and government clients. Its services include traditional mechanical
mineral separation and processing via an Electro Pulse Disaggregator to disaggregate rock along grain boundaries. Zirchron routinely prepares separates of zircon, apatite, and other heavy minerals for U/Pb, fission-track, and (U-Th)/He analyses. It also produces bearing phase separates such as mica and hornblende tailored for K/Ar and 40Ar/39Ar analyses. Clients ship whole rock samples to the laboratory and receive mineral separates, leftover material, and a summary of procedures and initial purity assessments.
