wik.me is a new and powerful way to bring together, to discover and to manage facts. wik.me facts mesh together to become a "smart encyclopaedia and directory" of shared knowledge.
wik.me draws much of it's inspiration from the hugely successful collaboration that is Wikipedia. Its aims and character are very different, however.
It's designed to:
* be a source of quick facts, not encyclopaedic reference
* support "drive by" editing - by just making a comment
* help you search the internet
* collect the bulk of its facts by reading existing text or semantic mark-up
* support all public knowledge - not just what's considered notable
* be a place to hang - and find - quick relevant current comments
* run with dramatically-reduced editorial oversight
