Visual Assistant provides Tech-enhanced sight for visually impaired people, making the real world appear clearer.
The Visual Assistant represents the first technology development since the invention of eyeglasses in 13th century Italy to provide a solution to visual impairment. The Visual Assistant will deliver tailored images to the visually
impaired user on the screens of smart devices to alleviate their specific eye condition. The Visual Assistant will be launched in 2018 by charity Communication for Blind and Disabled People who have supported our research and development. Our initial product offering will be apps that provide tailored images delivered to the screens of smartphones, tablets and TVs.
There are quite a few technology offerings out there that claim they’re going to change the lives of visually impaired people – some even claim that if you purchase them it will be the same as if you could see! The Visual Assistant can’t claim that it will bring your sight back but it will improve it and your quality of life. Most importantly it will provide you with a tool that when used with a smartphone or tablet will enable you to see more of the world and navigate it more safely.
The Visual Assistant has been extensively tested with people that have the common and not so common eye conditions with positive results, even the severely sight impaired and registered blind. If you have any of the following eye conditions, or have low vision for any reason, then the Visual Assistant should be able to help you: Glaucoma, Retinitus Pigmentosa, Macular Degeneration, Diabetic Retinopathy, Dichromacy, Anomalous Trichromacy, Cataract, Myopia, Leber’s hereditary optic neuropathy, Birdshot Uveitis, Keratoconus, Colobomam and Nystagmus.
