Company Performance Metrics
Virtual Medicine was established in 2002 by founding members Dr Colin Carbis and Joe Mastro. The initial goal was to test the theory that the state of ones mind has a profound impact on their perception of pain, anxiety levels and overall wellbeing. That immersing the subject in a virtual controlled environment and communicating directly with the
subconscious mind could bring about changes in beliefs and behaviour, to positively impact their physical and mental health.
Early testing in hospitals revealed such favourable results that full clinical trials were instigated. Leading pain specialists in burns units and public hospitals in Australia and the USA conducted their own independent trials. The resulting data revealed that VRT had a statistically significant impact on pain and anxiety levels.
With this data in hand, Virtual Medicine set about generating programs for a range of conditions in consultation with experts in each area of therapy to ensure the programs were of the greatest possible efficacy.
