The Lavender Effect is a nonprofit organization that advances LGBTQ heritage and culture through public history and education programs. The organization produces oral history projects that record testimonies from LGBTQ community members and allies and publishes related interview transcripts. It develops guided and self-guided LGBTQ history tours,
including mobile app-based experiences and in-person walking tours, for students, educators, businesses, and community groups. The Lavender Effect creates traveling and pop-up exhibits, community events, workshops, and curriculum supplements that explore LGBTQ history and the HIV/AIDS epidemic. It also offers digital resources, including the PRIDE Explorer app and online content, to help users explore LGBTQ historic sites and stories.
