The Equality Effect uses legal advocacy, human rights education, and research to enforce sexual assault laws and advance girls’ and women’s rights. The organization leads the 160 Girls Project, a justice initiative that implements a landmark High Court decision through police, prosecution, and judicial engagement. It develops and delivers training
for justice system actors, including police and courts, to improve investigation and prosecution of child rape cases. The Equality Effect runs Virtual Justice Clubs that equip youth to act as equality advocates and support survivors in accessing the justice system. It also conducts monitoring and evaluation, victim impact assessments, and publishes research and annual reports to document outcomes and refine its programs. Through these systemic interventions, it works to remove legal barriers to enforcement and create durable access to justice for survivors of sexual violence.
