The Bushwick Starr is a nonprofit theater that develops and presents new performance works and supports artists through productions, readings, and residencies. The organization programs a mainstage season of multidisciplinary performances and a Starr Reading Series for new plays and works-in-progress. It operates education initiatives including Big
Green Theater for elementary students, Creating Performance for teens and young adults, Rising Starr classes, and Senior Storytelling workshops. The Bushwick Starr also produces community events such as Summers at the Starr and offers free or low-cost public performances. In addition, it hosts an annual gala and other fundraising activities, and provides space rentals to artists and partner organizations.
