The Alvin Ailey School of American Dance Theatre in Brooklyn, New York, is one of the nation’s premier dance schools, offering unique, immersive training programs towards a BFA that include plenty of experiential learning opportunities.
Ailey is known for its BFA program, which allows students to receive an exceptional dance and liberal arts
education. Ailey’s liberal arts curriculum is grounded in the Jesuit tradition, which emphasizes intellectual inquiry and personal growth.
Admissions are determined for the BFA program on an applicant’s potential for a dance career, personal creativity and talents, GPA, academic achievement and extracurricular involvement.
The school’s professional division allows students between the ages of 15-25 the opportunity to enroll in unique dance programs. A three-year certificate program, intensive summer courses, and scholarship program that allows promising students aged 15-21 to take tuition-free semesters are all available.
Your college life will be immersed in dancing and theatre. When you are not studying, you can catch a performance at the Ailey Citigroup Theatre from a variety of performers, ranging from classical concerts to contemporary dance groups, and expand your interests.
The Ailey School maintains a partnership with Fordham University to offer financial aid to students who demonstrate need. Sources of assistance include merit and need-based grants, direct loans and student-employment programs.
