Telepath Networks was created to address the problem of rising operational expenses of the world’s telecommunications service providers. Although the telecommunications infrastructure has largely been automated, the provisioning of telecommunications service, a change in service, or the testing and maintenance of service still involves a person
physically going to the unattended central office as well as every outside plant cabinet (i.e. the switching equipment located outside the central office) to find and manually connect a pair of wires. There are estimated to be over three billion wired connections in place worldwide. These manual processes cost the telecommunications industry billions of dollars annually.
To be the leader of this new automation market, Telepath realized that an Automated Distribution Frame would have to be developed that would not only automate the physical connections of copper and fiber, but would also automate the entire provisioning of the new enhanced services now being offered by the service providers. This meant that the system had to have a software core that could communicate with the next generation Internet protocol networks that were being implemented by the service providers.
