Te Mahi Ako delivers work-based vocational training for people employed in the active recreation, leisure and entertainment sectors. The organisation offers practical programmes and New Zealand qualifications that are completed primarily in the workplace, allowing learners to develop skills while remaining in their jobs. Te Mahi Ako provides
programmes across aquatics, exercise, mātauranga Māori, entertainment and events, snowsport, outdoor recreation, and sport and community recreation. It supports learners, employers, and assessors with enrolment guidance, learner support, assessor development, and quality assurance. Te Mahi Ako also works with industry partners on qualification development and wider workforce development initiatives related to sport, recreation, fitness and the arts.
