Fully electric jet engines for zero-emission aircraft propulsion.
About the Company
SYLPHAERO is working on a world-first: fully electric jet engines, to electrify fast and heavy aircraft such as airliners. The reason behind the creation of these new engines is simple: A320’s cruise speed is 829 km/h and requires 40 MW of thrust. All emerging electrical aircraft are much smaller and slower (463 km/h, 1,4 MW).
Sylphaero's goal is to keep the performances of jet engines and to do so, we electrify them instead of replacing them. This is done by using electrical heaters known as "arc plasma torches" to heat the air inside of the engine, without consuming any fossil fuel.
