Step Up Parents provides financial assistance and support to kinship caregivers raising children whose parents struggle with substance use disorder. The organization funds specific needs such as daycare, clothing, baby supplies, legal fees, and specialized programs like camps, sports teams, music or art lessons, and other enrichment activities. It
operates an application-based aid program in which payments are made directly to service providers and vendors on behalf of eligible families. Step Up Parents also offers a $1,000 post–high school scholarship to students who have lived with kinship caregivers and meet defined academic and residency criteria. In addition, it maintains resource listings and support group connections for kinship caregivers, and runs seasonal campaigns and events to expand funding for summer care and enrichment opportunities.
