SpotLab is an artificial intelligence (AI) company focused on healthcare, founded in 2017 as a spin-off from the Polytechnic University of Madrid. Since its inception, SpotLab has been at the forefront of AI-driven healthcare innovations, developing technologies for diagnosis, prognosis, screening, treatment, risk stratification, treatment
response, disease management, and digital biomarkers discovery and detection.
SpotLab holds the In Vitro Medical Device Manufacturer License granted by the Spanish Agency of Medicines, allowing the company to commercialize its products for healthcare use across the European territory. To obtain this license, SpotLab developed and implemented a Quality Management System (QMS) that defines and standardizes every process related to technology development and deployment. The QMS was designed in accordance with international quality standards for medical devices (ISO 13485). Additionally, SpotLab has successfully completed the regulatory process for its bone marrow AI product, which was qualified and approved for sale as a In Vitro Medical Device under the European Directive EU 98/79/CE IVD.
Its technology is already deployed in over 10 hospitals in Spain and in more than 10 countries across Latin America and Africa. The company has garnered support from the European Commission (H2020 SME ph2), the Bill & Melinda Gates Foundation, and the Spanish government through the PERTE (Strategic Projects for Economic Recovery and Transformation) program, among others.
