Sound Roots develops careers in folk, roots and acoustic music by combining live events, artist development and industry support. The organisation runs English Folk Expo, an annual showcase conference, and Manchester Folk activities, including concerts and a festival. It hosts Sound Roots Connect, an online learning and networking platform for the
independent music industry, and delivers an artist mentoring pathway for emerging musicians. Sound Roots also commissions and administers the UK Official Folk Albums Chart and operates the Folk Album of the Year Award and Folk Album Release Hub. Its consultancy services cover music business planning, programming, mentoring, talks and creative producing for venues, festivals, local authorities and other cultural partners.
