SLO County IWMA administers integrated solid waste, recycling, and organics management programs for its member jurisdictions. The organization develops and coordinates local solid waste policies, including curbside recycling, green organics collection, and household hazardous and electronic waste disposal programs. It provides public education and
guidance on proper sorting of trash, recyclables, and organic materials, including how to handle food scraps and food-soiled paper. SLO County IWMA manages outreach tools such as recycling guides, program reminders, and community newsletters to support compliance with state waste reduction laws. The authority also organizes public meetings and publishes agendas and minutes to guide decision-making on regional waste management services and regulations.
