Company Performance Metrics
Shining Light provides mental health and reentry programs for incarcerated people using social-emotional skills, character strengths, and creative arts. The organization delivers the Shining Light Academy, a facilitated course that teaches positive psychology tools, self-regulation, goal setting, and creative writing in correctional facilities.
Shining Light publishes The Loop, an interactive magazine that combines education, reflection prompts, and incarcerated people’s creative work to support peer-led discussion groups. It also develops original tablet-based video series and courses on topics such as character strengths, playwriting, and spoken word in partnership with prison education technology providers. Additional offerings include remote creative collaborations like Creations of a Caged Bird and the feature film Influence: A Film in Verse, which are distributed to incarcerated audiences. These programs aim to improve mental health, prison environments, and preparation for reentry.
