Sero Project centers the leadership of people living with HIV to challenge HIV criminalization and related injustices. The organization conducts community education, public awareness campaigns, and policy advocacy focused on laws that criminalize HIV status, exposure, or transmission. It operates the Network Empowerment Project, which supports the
formation, training, and sustainability of people living with HIV networks for advocacy, mutual support, and improved health outcomes. Sero Project produces the biennial HIV Is Not a Crime National Training Academy to train advocates, policy leaders, and other stakeholders. It develops toolkits, research resources, and legal guidance, and maintains bill-tracking and reform information on HIV criminalization statutes. The organization also coordinates resources for newly diagnosed individuals and incarcerated people living with HIV, including the Turn It Up! Staying Strong Inside publication and the Network Connect brochure.
