Company Performance Metrics
Saga Petroleum is a Norwegian upstream petroleum company with major operations on the British continental shelf. A political desire to have three Norwegian oil firms led to the creation of Saga Petroleum in 1972. The business was a third firm in the three-company model, which also included Statoil as a state-owned enterprise, Norsk Hydro as a
semi-private enterprise, and Statoil as a completely private enterprise (Saga). The three Norwegian oil corporations were tasked with making sure that Norway developed a strong petroleum industry. The Snorre oil field, as well as the Tordi, Varg, and Vigdis oil fields, were among the largest ones that Saga managed. A few times before the merger, Saga paid US$1.23 billion to buy Kuwait-based Santa Fe Exploration.
