Quin Technology Ltd (formerly Ayuda Heuristics Ltd) developed a CE-marked mobile medical device for Type 1 diabetes management. The Quin app combined personalised insulin dosing decision support with machine learning to help users make informed decisions about their diabetes management. The mobile application incorporated carefully validated
algorithms for pattern recognition while collecting data to generate novel clinical insights.
The company achieved Class I and later Class II a) medical device certification under EU MDR [2017/745], implementing comprehensive quality management systems while doing regular software releases. Through an active user research program engaging over 100 participants, Quin developed evidence-based approaches to diabetes self-management.
Between 2014-2020, Quin raised multiple rounds of funding and won competitive grants, earning recognition through programs including ATTD startup grant, Innovate UK, KQ labs accelerator, and Apple Entrepreneur Camp.
