Progress House was founded in 1961 by a group of men and women who had recovered from the disease of alcoholism and who recognized a need for a recovery setting in Indianapolis. They started with a space for approximately 10 men when They opened their modest doors in the 2000 block of N. New Jersey Street. The House later moved to 1703 Talbot St.
In 1969 Progress House moved to 14 N. Highland where they remained for the next 32 years, until the move to their current location in November 2001. Today they are located one mile from downtown Indianapolis and serve up to 75 men, whose typical length of stay ranges from 90 days to 12 months. The House provides a sober, secure, comfortable living environment where men can focus on their recovery from addiction.
