OwnMates is a British-Indian multimedia social networking platform founded by Amar Raj in November 2022. Headquartered in London, England, the platform was created to foster global connections through multilingual communication and cultural exchange. Its name reflects the platform’s mission to help users “own” their voice and relationships in a
digital world.
Originally launched as a professional networking app, OwnMates has since expanded to include social and dating features, positioning itself as a hybrid platform for personal and professional engagement. A standout feature is its integrated translator, which allows messages and posts to be instantly translated into the recipient’s preferred language, helping users overcome language barriers and connect across cultures.
OwnMates is operated by OWNMATES LTD, a private company with a small team of 1–10 employees. The platform is available globally and supports a growing user base, with active engagement in both the UK and India. It is currently exploring end-to-end encryption for select features and offers subscription-based access to premium tools.
