nstop is a native iOS transit app built for English-speaking expats living in the Netherlands — a community of over 1,600,000 people who rely on Dutch public transport every day but are systematically underserved by apps that assume Dutch fluency. Existing transit apps in the Netherlands — 9292, NS, GVB — are built for Dutch speakers. Their
interfaces, error messages, stop names, and support are Dutch-first. For expats, this creates daily friction at exactly the moment it matters most: when you’re trying to get somewhere on time. nstop solves this with a different product thesis. Rather than building another departure board, nstop tells you when to leave. The app connects to your calendar, identifies your next commitment, finds the nearest transit stop to your destination, and calculates your departure time using live Dutch transit data — then sends you a notification at the right moment. No manual route lookups. No Dutch to parse. Just: leave now.
